Dès 3 ans pour le programme germanophone et 5 ans pour le programme anglophone

The Sections Internationales de Sèvres offer three hours of class per week on Wednesday mornings from 8:30 to 11:30 for young bilinguals. During the rest of the school week, pupils attend their local "maternelle" or preschool usually situated close to where they live.

Our classes are geared towards children who already speak English or German either at home with one or both parents or who have just returned from a long-term stay in an English or German-speaking country.

As is the case for all our classes, our youngest pupils also benefit from the expertise of trained teachers whose native language is either English or German. Our teachers hail from many different Anglophone: United Kingdom, Ireland, United States, Australia..., or Germanophone countries.

  • The English Section begins at the kindergarten/Year 1 level (in their French school children will be in Grande section de maternelle). Children are taught the basics of reading and writing using a fun multisensory method. Weekly homework assignments are given and pupils are expected to keep up with the group. Classes are held in the maternelle school next to the Gambetta Primary school in Sèvres.

  • The German Section: offers three levels of classes corresponding to the three French maternelle classes (petite section, moyenne section and grande section). Classes are held at the Gambetta Primary School in Sèvres.

In the German section the program is both fun and creative using songs, games and manual activities. Following preparatory work in the final preschool year to familiarize pupils with the sounds of the language, reading and writing are taught in the primary classes, as is the case in Germany.

Classes begin mid-September and end mid-June. Two party days, are organized together with the primary classes; one in December and one at the end of the year.

Pupils then move on to the primary school where two different programs are on offer. To find out more >>
