Life Down Under

The most memorable part of my trip : a road trip from Melbourne via Canberra to Sydney.

My whole trip to Australia was amazing, even though the flight down there was interminable, I still enjoyed it very much. (MLC Exchange)

The most memorable part of my trip was when my host family and I took a road trip from Melbourne via Canberra to Sydney. The drive up to Canberra was long and I slept most of the way.

We spent two days in Canberra where we did an exclusive tour of the Prime Minister’s office, visited the New Parliament House, the Old Parliament House where my “host sister” and I got to dress up as an ex first lady, Lady Sonia McMahon. We visited the War Memorial as well as the National Museum of Australia.

In Sydney we visited a famous beach called Watson’s Bay. Winter in Sydney is warmer than Melbourne. After the expedition to the beach where I tasted my first Fish’n’Chips, we visited the Toranga Zoo situated on an island in the harbor.

During the ferry ride over we saw Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Opera House. The zoo had all the native animals from Australia, and this is where I discovered the short-beaked Echidna: the cutest animal I ever saw. My host family was really delightful. I am eagerly waiting for Imogen, my “host sister”, to come to France in December, so that we can visit Paris together.
