Great Holiday in Kangaroo-land by Lucas Jansen

During my holidays this year, I spent the month of July in Australia. The family hosting me was great and I loved the stay so much! There were the parents, one brother and two sisters. We did heaps of stuff and in the end, I really became part of this family.

We went to Sydney Harbour Bridge and climbed on it. It was great fun! We also went to Centrepoint Tower which offers an amazing view all over Sydney. Then I spent five days in Surfers Paradise, a part of the Gold Coast which lies in Queensland. We (my guest family and I) went to see the amusements parks and we really enjoyed the trip.

Then finally we had to go to school. The school was a stunning experience. The teachers are kind with the students and they develop friendship with them. I was a bit shocked because a student tapped a teacher on the shoulder and told him “Good work!” at the end of the lesson. The relationship between students and teachers is much better than in France - there is much more confidence, teacher and students form a joyful learning community.

I really enjoyed my stay in Australia and met loads of people. They speak a funny variant of English but you learn it very quickly and pick up the swear-words. My new mate, Kyle Boulden, will come in December this year and I hope he will enjoy school, Paris, Normandy and Europe as much as I did Australia.

I am looking forward to go back one day and I thank the SIS which have enabled this great trip for me.

Down on the Farm by David Ginoux

In the last holidays I went to Australia. At the beginning I spent 2 weeks on the farm with 1400 Charolais cattle of my exchange Family. The first few days it was a little bit difficult to communicate with my exchange student, Ed, but later we became good friends.

I discovered a lot of new things – the hard work on the farm - and I accompanied Ed on his flight lessons. He even let me drive his car, on his property, as he already has his drivers license.

After my stay on the farm, I stayed two other weeks in the boarding house of The Scots College. I shared the room of 10 other nice boys. With my exchange student Ed we visited Sydney, went to Bondi beach and climbed onto of the Harbour bridge.

I enjoyed this trip and I will come back to this beautiful country.

My month in Australia by Antoine Moulai

Last summer, I spent a month in Australia. I stayed in a family in Sidney and next winter my exchange partner, Edward Shaw, will come to France. During the first two weeks, Edward was on holidays so he had time to make me visit. We went to Camberra, the capital city of Australia, he took me to his beach house and of course we visited the city of Sidney. Then, it was time for him to go back to school. I had the opportunity to discover Edward’s school and to attend classes with him. It was very interesting to see the differences between an Australian and a French school. Finally, I would say that it was a great experience and that I improved my English a lot. I advise anybody to do this exchange and I can’t wait for my exchange partner to come.
