I landed in Melbourne really excited but exhausted by the 24hour flight, not knowing what to expect.....
My host family was very kind to me and very soon I felt at home in their house in Balwyn, a pretty suburb close to MLC, the school I went to during the exchange.
I arrived during the holidays, so I had time to get over my jetlag in Lorne and Philip Island before my first day at school. The holidays went very well and I began to feel relaxed with my host family and more confident with my English. My host sister, Alex, quickly became a very good friend and I had a really good time with her, her family and her nice friends!
I will never forget the time I spent in this wonderfully musical school, with all the Australian girls, where I learnt not only about Australia, but also to play the saxophone. I quickly got used to the uniform and the modern educational system and all the teachers were very nice to me. I had the pleasure of taking part in the Fitchett House’s activities and to participate in the Senior School Performing Arts Festival.
I was lucky to be there for the MLC Year 11 Formal which took place my last weekend in ‘Aussie’. We went to the venue by “Party-Bus” which was really exciting! It was an unforgettable night and a great way to end my stay and say goodbye to all the wonderful people I had met at school in the past seven weeks.
I took the plane home, my head full of unbelievable memories, excited to see my family and friends again and enjoy my brief summer, but a little bit sad to leave Melbourne and all the people I had met there...
