A Midsummer Night’s Virtual Reality is a fascinating play. I was charmed from the beginning to the end of it. In this show there are lots of laughs and the story is so entertaining that I could not close my eyes. A lot of moments are so funny that I found it hilarious.
First of all there was Bottom. He is one of the mechanicals and is a real dolt. The actor Joel Kalvarisky, who plays Bottom, acts so well that we think he is actually Bottom himself. The reason I like Bottom is because he has a talent for mimicry and grimacing. When he arrived on stage with his armour (my brother who is 6 years old has this armour among all his games), Bottom walked in an original way since he marched like a soldier. He lifted his legs high while wobbling his eyes in every direction.
Then there’s Puck. He is a fairy and more specifically Oberon’s attendant. Puck is a wonderful character because he has an important role in the play. He pours a magic juice in a lover’s eye to make this person like the first human he sees when he wakes up. Puck is a strange looking actor with three sticks of hair popping out of his head and he is different from the others since he slides on the floor while nodding his head instead of walking normally.
I hope this excellent tradition will continue next year.

I don’t think it is possible to find the perfect word to describe this comic, entertaining and captivating but also tragic play. It was very well structured. The person who made me laugh the most was Bottom, also known as Pyramus, in his way of talking and acting; it seemed almost natural how Joel Kalvarisky incarnated his role. I also liked all the lovers: Helena with her way of crying; Demetrius with his girl side; Hermia with the way she expressed her emotions and Lysander with his strict but convincing side. The costumes were very suited for the play and well-chosen. Margot’s (Oberon) and Ben’s (Puck) hair were super. Titania’s way of chatting Bottom up was very convincing and we could see that she really loved him. This also proves that the magic from the flower worked well. Each actor did a great job and I think had a lot of fun.

As well as the superb directing and music, the evening is enhanced by the inspiring acting of the cast who displayed energy and enthusiasm. Shakespeare and Microsoft are united by a twist of technology, which sends modern students back in time. Especially noteworthy were the performances of Ben Elie and Joel Kalvarisky in the parts of Puck and Bottom respectively. The latter becomes an ass during the story and brings the house down with his performance ! Not to be ignored was the supporting role of Oberon, played by Margot Jaggy. She was convincing and captivating in her performance (all the more difficult due to the fact that she was playing the role of a man!)
The genius of the play is the witty explanation of the old English by the class of students.
Judging from the audience’s response, the show was a great success (setting aside the fact that most of the people watching were families and friends). The humour was memorable and the staff involved in this project made it very professional. A treasure not to be missed.

The “new” story was hilarious. Paddy Salmon knew how to put humoristic bits in the play to make it comical. The actors were all very talented, especially Joel Kalvaniski, playing Bottom. This character was a total idiot! He had everything: the stupid look, he spat all the time when he talked, he looked like he never understood what was going on around him... He was so funny, almost perfect. If we talk about Demetrius, I would say he added amusing mimics, he appeared soft eyed, talked like a girly! He was very funny, but ridiculous! On the other hand, it was sad that Puck (Ben Elie) could not articulate better than he did. However, on the whole, the actors were very well cast.
I think this was a lively and comic play, with lots of colors. The actors were perfect. All the costumes were very original and they gave a modern look to this comedy. Everything was well done: the lights, music, choreography... I think this troop did a great job. It was a memorable moment.
