First junior and senior proms and ceremony

By Cheryl Bagard

Darilyn Pourcheresse held the first junior prom at L’île in 2005. Deborah Dejean, Susanne Lopes, Dani Lippoldt and myself were on the Prom committee. Many girls wore long gowns and some even brought prom dresses back from the US. The boys rented tuxedos or bought their first suit, others borrowed Dad’s. Sergio’s Dad organised the music and Sergio’s band opened the ball. We had a professional photographer and a photo corner to immortalise the event.

Anne King organised a "party" for all the senior students leaving in 2005 at the Athletic club in Meudon.

La cérémonie de bac, promo 2008

I think Deborah organised the ceremony [1], she was definitely the master mind ; making the diplomas and coordinating everything.

She also along with Dani Lippoldt transformed the library and Dani set up a new modern cataloging system. Sorted through the books and threw out many old hat ones that nobody read. She ordered many new books and put out "books of the month". Deborah subscribed to some magazines (some factual, some fun). It was great fun being a library volunteer back then. It was also a great opportunity to meet up with our German counterparts, (for my part, Susanne Lory and Sandra Basset).

The video club, launched by Deborah was the biggest hit.

All this helped to contribute to the SIS spirit and give everyone, students and parents, germanophones and anglophones some common ground and a sense of connection.
