It was standing room only as students, parents and teachers crowded into W.H. Smith, the English bookshop on Rue de Rivoli for a literary evening and the launch of the second issue of the school’s literary magazine, ‘The Wandering Quill’.

With the shimmering blue covers of the magazine lying invitingly on the counter, and surrounded by serene shelves of books, a buzz of eager anticipation rose from the waiting crowd, curious to know what the evening would offer.
The eclectic mix of readings that followed displayed the depth of talent and creativity of our multilingual community.

‘Students from ‘sixième’ to ’terminale’ classes, parents and teachers, stepped up to read their own poetry and prose as well as some extracts from Allen Ginsberg, Toni Morrison, and Franz Kafka (in German). John Noonan, SIS parent and guest poet, enthralled us with a dramatic reading of his works and Anne Potonnier, our very own SIS Director, read a Baudelaire poem.

Our thanks go to the Wandering Quill editorial board, teacher Maryama Antoine and parent Pat Janin for their superb organization of the evening, and to W.H.Smith for providing the venue for this blooming of hidden talents.
