By Manon Rose (Sommerville House exchange)
My host student Priya and her family were very welcoming and always had time for me.
They showed me around Brisbane and introduced me to a family friend and her exchange student from Senlis.
With Priya, we stayed up late talking about our countries. She showed me the uniform and photos of her friends.
Every meal was delicious. We mixed mainly with Priya’s friends but I had many occasions to see the other French girls. Together, we went to a theme park.
Priya, her mother and I travelled to Sydney. They showed me around the Opera House and we ate dinner in a restaurant overlooking the Harbour Bridge. We also went to Stanthorpe where we saw wild kangaroos.
Later, they took me to the Gold Coast, where Priya and I visited a zoo, and got the opportunity to pat a koala and dozens of kangaroos.
The Australian lifestyle is similar to the American way of living because of the large open areas and the big stores.
The school is a complex of different buildings with a gym, a pool, an assembly hall and a sports field. I was very sad to leave Priya but cannot wait for her to come in December.
I will probably return to Brisbane with my family for the Christmas holidays 2008-2009. Thanks to this exchange I believe I have found a true friend in Priya.
Thank you Cheryl for all the organization.
