This year I was entering 4ème, the first year where you get the chance to be in the play. I had seen the result of past plays such as « Hard Times » and « Midsummer Night’s Virtual Reality », and it looked fun. It made me want to do this one, so I auditioned, far from expecting I would get such a big role as Huck 1. It was kind of hard to learn all those lines. Each week I had to go to rehearsals. Most of the time I had to go to the lycée, then, closer to the date, we rehearsed in Chaville, the Sèvres tramway station and at the theatre.

I found it odd at first that we had to shout the lines, and I found it hard to keep the volume up. I can still hear Paddy saying, « Speak louder, Harold, we can’t hear you. »
There was always a good atmosphere. The other actors were friendly. It wasn’t like schoolwork at all. I think the backstage had a hard time. They really had a lot to do. The stress of the first night was terrible ... What if I forget my lines? What if I enter on the wrong side (one of my biggest fears)? As soon as I got on stage though, the stress disappeared!
It was worth the hard work, and I count on doing it again next year.
I wonder what it will be ...?

As everyone would expect, I had a very good time acting in the “Huck Finn” play this year, although I had a few minor problems, some obvious, others a bit less.
t still seems an honour having one of the leading roles after seeing the last plays (I was a very big fan). I was actually very surprised that a «Seconde» or «Premiere» were not given my role.
Firstly, I had a hard time learning my text. I only knew it perfectly two weeks before the play, but now I realize that I was lucky not being the one worst off. Also, I had a few problems with my southern accent. Most of the time when I was practicing, I kept overdoing it till the teachers couldn’t understand a word I said. I hope it was not too apparent during our representations.
After these few incidents, I keep an exceptional feeling about this adventure, and I was especially glad that I had some friends with me while waiting for my part.
I had a peculiar stress problem; I was fine during the whole play until the last scene, which is very sentimental. I was terrified I would laugh in the middle of it, or something as embarrassing as that!
I think the merit of this play mostly goes to the teachers, who gave their own free time to put all this together, and I’m perfectly sure they’ll do just as good a job next year.
