Flat Stanley Slips into P4

When Flat Stanley’s creator, Jeff Brown, first imagined the flattening blow from the bulletin board above Stanley’s bed, in 1964, little did he know that the resulting two dimensional adventures would be taken up by schoolchildren all over the world. P4 students in SIS primary, Wednesday and integrated alike, are among the very many that read the book and share their own ‘Flat Stanley’ tales.

The Flat Stanley Project, started in Canada, in 1995, was designed to facilitate letter-writing by schoolchildren to each other as they document what Flat Stanley has done with them. A Stanley cutout is slipped into an envelope and posted to another class/school/country along with his latest adventure.

P4 classes recently collaborated with Mrs. Dallimore’s 3rd grade class at the Cumberland School, Wisconsin, welcoming Flat Stanley to France in a very exciting international exchange !

Below are a few of the P4 stories telling Flat Stanley’s French adventures.

The adventure continues. We just received this letter from our Wisconsin friends!
