This year, the choir performed ’A tribute to Michael Jackson’, almost exactly one year after the star’s death in June 2009.
Perhaps because of this (!), the choir was 3 times bigger this year than last year, and managing 40 children at once was sometimes quite a challenge but also hugely rewarding.
And as from January, we were joined by Carol Cretaigne, who wrote the choreography for most of the numbers, taught the children the moves (no mean feat, even for a former member of the ’Moulin Rouge’ ) and made the whole thing manageable again. The performance took place on a sultry evening in early June, and was attended by parents, students from collège and lycée, and also by Mssrs Gény and Sidain. The children rose to the occasion, as they do every year, and a magical hour was spent by all in the Amphitheatre, as they performed 4 numbers from the Jackson 5 years, and another 4 from the ’Michael Jackson, King of pop’ era.
A special Thank you to Anne Potonnier for her unwavering support, to the technical staff at the collège for their electronics skills, and most especially to Carol, for helping to make the show this year such a success.
