Candy Buxton
Candida was born in the UK (Dartford, Kent), and was awarded a BSc Honours degree in law and politics from the University of Southampton in 1984, where she was active in theatre and directed several plays, culminating with a play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1984 with Southampton University theatre Group.
She moved to Paris in 1985 and began teaching the following year, after obtaining the RSA Cert in TEFL. She now also has the RSA Diploma in TEFL and a Masters Degree in second and foreign language teaching, awarded with Distinction by the University of London in 2006.
She has lived and worked (with brief spells in Germany, India and Hong Kong) in France since 1985 and for the past 16 years has worked as a teacher and teacher trainer at the University of London in Paris (formerly the British Institute).
She has taught at secondary and post-secondary levels, and has particular interests in translation and second language acquisition in high-level English L2 learners, which formed the basis of her MA research paper.
As a musician and choir member, she hopes to be able to set up a choir group at Sèvres to encourage cooperation between the general and international sections.

Née en Angleterre, Candida est diplômée de l’Université de Londres en droit et sciences politiques. Son parcours comprend également un vif intérêt pour le théâtre, culminant par la mise en scène d’une pièce au « Fringe » Festival d’Edimbourg en 1984 avec la troupe de théâtre universitaire de Southampton.
Arrivée en France en 1985, elle est enseignante depuis 1986, et a obtenu et le RSA Diploma in TEFL (1993) et un Masters en linguistique appliquée (accordé avec mention) par l’Université de Londres en 2006.
Mariée et mère de 3 enfants, ses centres d’intérêt comprennent également la traduction et le bilinguisme. Pendant ces 16 dernières années elle a été professeur et formateur de professeurs à l’Université de Londres à Paris (anciennement connu sous le nom du « British Institute »).
Musicienne et choriste, elle aimerait s’investir dans la possibilité de mettre sur pied une chorale qui pourrait marier les talents des sections internationales et les sections générales à Sèvres ou Chaville.
