Life Down Under

Australia, here we come!!!

By Julie and Albane (MLC Exchange)

This summer, four frenchies left Paris to fly to Aussie land where we had so much fun! With the huge MLC College and the beautiful landscape, the summer passed quickly.

We all enjoyed our stay with our kind and fun families. They guided us through real Australian life, brought us to school, restaurants, and other wonderful places, such as Melbourne.

The school was huge and the students were adorable, they were very welcoming and looked after us throughout our stay. MLC is a girl’s school, quite different from mixed schools but we all enjoyed it a lot. With a big PEC (physical education center) including a swimming pool and a gymnasium, a library, movie style classrooms and a music department, school seemed more like vacation.

We weren’t allowed to choose our classes but luckily we had art, television, media, fashion and design classes. The teachers are also very friendly and caring. Our school days were very short (lasting from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm with only 4 different classes during the day). Laughing with everyone around us was almost our main activity!!

With shopping, tours, kangaroos and old Victorian buildings, Melbourne has lots of charm. Seeing kangaroos was also a lot of fun and quite impressive.

All four of us went to Sydney. Like Melbourne, it’s a wonderful city with a beautiful view of the Harbor Bridge and the Opera House. Albane even climbed the bridge with her host sister and mom. It was so awesome!

  • Julie: «Another culture, other people and another fun, I wish everybody could be as lucky as I was to be able to spend such a fun time. I think that everyone who has the ability to go should go, it’s just amazing!»
  • Albane: «I absolutely enjoyed every second I spent in Australia with my host-family, at MLC and with all the girls. Everything is just so wonderful and perfect. Everyone should go!»

We all enjoyed this trip so much that we would love to go back and would recommend everyone to go! This exchange has helped us a lot; improving our English, discovering new places, a new culture and obviously new, wonderful people and friends.

This experience will never be forgotten. One person has made this extraordinary opportunity come true: Cheryl Bagard. She was with us every step of the way and was so helpful. Cheryl, we all want to thank you so much for all that you’ve done, it was just splendid!
THANK YOU CHERYL !
