The majority of students enrolled in the International Sections choose to prepare for the International Option Baccalaureate. This prestigious exam is recognized worldwide and serves as a passport to universities in France and around the world. The International Option Baccalaureate is made up of a standard French baccalaureate in one of three general educational orientations (science, economics, literature), with additional written and oral tests in literature (English or German) and in history/geography (English or German).
After Easter vacation, students in their final year leave for 4 days of intensive study and seminars with their instructors. The German section takes off to the countryside, while the Anglophone section retreats to Normandy. Group and individual study help the students concentrate on their goal - - obtaining the International Option Baccalaureate. As former students will attest, this educational retreat undoubtedly plays an important role in the excellent results obtained by SIS students at the OIB Bac (100% pass rate with 40% receiving honors).

In their first year of high school, International Sections students, like all first years, may choose an option in line with their interests and the educational orientation they will pursue in their second year. One option available is the study of a third modern language in addition to the mandatory second language. The school offers Italian and Japanese.
The examsOutside of the International Option Baccalaureate, students are encouraged to take a variety of exams leading to prestigious certificates.
The prestigious CAE and CPE exams evaluate the written and oral capabilities of the candidate and are recognized by universities around the world as proof of a very high level of English, not unlike the TOEFL. Foreign students who have not passed the International Option Bac must have these certificates in order to be admitted to British universities. |
